UHMN Profile Pimping |

As you can see from my profile, I've had a bit of fiddle around to see what works and what doesn't. I hope the "powers that be" don't mind too much. ;o)
Here are half a dozen things that I found to play with...
1) Embedded applets such as music players will work but you need to find a tiny one otherwise it will make a mess of your layout. I found mine at Loudfusion.com but there are similar ones at myflashfetish.com called "Keymo". You just choose a music list for them and "copy and paste" the code into any section on your profile. You can add YouTube videos too but you will probably have to resize them. You'd be better off putting them in your blogs though so that people can comment your masterpieces.
2) Adding pics works as usual with the standard "img src=" tags. I've found that if you don't remove unnecessary spaces when using multiple tags then you end up with a lot of random code left over on your page. If that happens, just go back into "Manage Profile" and close up the gaps.
3) Everytime you add something to your page, the page automatically adjusts to align it with the content of the next column. I think the tables must have "align=middle" in them somewhere. Anyway, if, like me, you have a long movie list, it will leave a big space on your page. I suggest either adding pictures to your "TV" section to balance it or keeping your lists short.
4) You can add a "hover background" using the style command for a.hover and, although I haven't done it, you can probably set a different cursor too. You can add such a style addition in any of the sections. This site looks really nice to begin with so you don't actually need to start fiddling with the backgrounds although I'm sure someone will try. :o( I suggest you don't though.
5) You can add Flash applets to the blogs too. Games, YouTube videos, etc all seem to work. Again you need to make sure that the tags don't break up or you will end up with gobbledegook. I did find that a certain guestbook "Widget" doesn't show up but that's been true of most sites.
6) You can create lots of photo albums on here which is quite neat. Bear in mind that the first image you upload to them will be the "cover". I'm not sure how that works because there is a lot of clever coding on this page. Even deleting the first image you put up and then reuploading it puts it back as the cover image. You can't rearrange them afterwards or rename them either so remember to upload them in the order you want to begin with if you are using the albums to storyboard something.
I'll get back to watching horror movies now... :o)
If you didn't understand any of the above, don't worry about it. :o)

IMPORTANT from sulentho:
If you put Flash applets on your page or in your blogs then you should hardcode the width to 370 pixels or less.
So now we know. :o)
