"Cinderella gets a make-over in this dark tale of love, murder, revenge and the walking dead. This gothic fairly tale features Cinder, a young woman with troubles. She has a wicked step-stripper for a mom. Her prince charming is a complete psycho. Her fairy godmother is actually the voodoo god, Baron Samedi. Worst of all, she's been murdered. But Cinder doesn't intend to let a little thing like being dead stop her. She's got places to go and people to kill. She only has until midnight!"
This is another one currently showing on Zone Horror which was only made earlier this year and yet doesn't seem to have a DVD release in the UK. This fact surprised me even more when I heard the word "bollocks" a couple of times in the dialogue. You don't often get that in an American film so it looks like our little ways are catching on.
Jennifer Friend who plays Lenore/Donna (and is also the writer/producer of Cadaverella) actually joined CherryTap (where I first wrote this blog) just to let me know that you can buy the film from the Big Atom Productions website.
She also informed me that they all hope that the "truth or bollocks" game featured in Cadaverella will appeal to UK viewers. If CherryTap had not upgraded their email system recently, I would have copied her email into this blog but, alas, it is gone forever... :o(
"Cadaverella"
is total sexploitation and is part of the "Grindhouse 2000" season.
Don't expect it to be the greatest film you've ever seen (because it
isn't) but as a very vulgar comedy-horror version of the Cinderella
story it quite amused me.
The narration was perhaps the
funniest part but Megan Goddard is quite impressive as the lead and has
a cracking little body .
Big Atom Productions
claim that Cadaverella will be released on DVD on May 8th this year but you can watch it on Zone Horror in the UK right now so why
bother waiting?
I'll give it 5 out of 10 for being as sick and
bloody as the real Grimm fairytale of Ashenputtel. I can't really give
it any more as it is only just over an hour long and some of the
editing could have been better.
I don't think any of the people
involved have been in anything else so, as a low-budget debut, it
wasn't too bad at all really.
