Okay, here's my first blog for UHMN -- a shameless exercise in self-promotion. The new issue of Penny Blood (#8) is out and beginning to show up at the big chain bookstores nationwide. I have three pieces in this issue including the cover story on the legendary Lloyd Kaufman of Troma which marks my third cover for Penny out of their eight issues published so far. Also, you'll find my in-depth coverage of Shock-O-Rama's Chainsaw Sally and its creators JimmyO and April Burrill and a Q&A with Sara Karloff, daughter of immortal horror icon Boris Karloff. While you're out buying the new Penny Blood be sure to pick up the new Sirens of Cinema. I have a piece in there about Angela Goethals, a very accomplished young actress you may recognize from 24 or as Macauley Culkin's older sister from the original Home Alone. Angela is in a new horror film called Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon out on DVD from Anchor Bay (where's the screener, guys?) in July. Angela is a great interview and an all around sweet human being. Check it out. Speaking of Sirens, issue eight has another great, original cover -- this time by Romik Safarian. Every issue of vol. two is worthy of framing. As I've said here many times, Sirens is the best written and edited genre mag out there, even when I'm not in it. Go buy a subscription now! Lastly, I got some new tattoos. Check out my photos . . . I might post some pics. All best, William J. Wright |
