Since everyone seemed to enjoy the reprint interview I did with Heidi, I thought I would share another interview! This was with Countess Bathoria that ran on horrorzone.be and it was posted February 04, 2005. Enjoy!

1. What film/actor/actress/director/writer first got you into the genre?

Sam Rami's Evil Dead II.

2. What is the definition of "scream queen" to you, and other than yourself, what actress represents that the most?

Although most would probably describe a scream queen as a desirable young vixen with a great set of lungs I strongly believe that many of the women in this genre have/had the ability to sicken, arouse and most of all scare us! In turn, brains and talent are an absolute must!!! Vampira (Maila Nurmi) is a great example of brains, beauty and talent.

3. As a whole, do you feel that horror films and the genre degrade women, or do you feel that society takes what they see in the wrong direction as far as what the film is implying?

In regards to whether the genre degrades women, no more than they degrade men.....I mean come on, if the door is locked the guy can't break it down...if the car breaks down the guy is never able to fix it...and if he fixes something it never works right. What is he? A moron? And then six of them get together and make a plan to disarm a mentally handicapped man with a knife, and they can't even accomplish that?

In regards to what the film is implying, I think that there are far more prevalent issues at hand than whether a buxom blonde running scantily clad through the night constitutes degradation. For example, what factors in this young man's life led to his need to indiscriminately whack people up-side the head with an axe?

4. Do you feel that the time of the "scream queens" is passing due to the influx of the "WB" crowd of actresses that are taking the majority of the so called "mainstream" horror roles? (ex. Neve Campbell in Scream, Sarah Michelle Gellar in The Grudge: Ju-on remake, etc.)

Although the WB crowd of actresses are landing roles in the genre there are still many independent productions available for the real scream queens and the market exists to fill both.

5. If you could change anything about the genre today, what would it be?

Although I love the elements of the genre i.e. gore, semi clad women etc., I would like to see more creativity in the execution of the sequences. We all know that someone will be faced with his or her untimely demise but it’s the how he or she will in fact die that I anticipate. When the sequence is done in a way that I don’t expect… the film is that much more satisfying i.e.Takashi Miiki’s ‘Ichi The Killer’

6. What can you share with us about Sinners and Saints?

Born from my unhinged mind, ‘Sinners and Saints’ has been said by movie reviewers around the globe to be one of the sickest, perverted and most politically incorrect movies that they have seen! My fans would expect no less *evil grin*

Jason Cavalier who is the action director and co creator of this project is a martial arts genius and a creative artist who I am grateful to have ever had the pleasure of working with. Our talents combined are sure to make this film not easily forgotten!

7. Do you prefer doing photography over doing movies?

It has been my preference to keep active in every aspect of the genre. I tend to bore easily having only one outlet for my creative ways. This Halloween I will be hosting The Vampires’ Masquerade Ball in Salem Massachusetts.

8. How did you get involved in The Vampires' Masquerade Ball and what kind of responses do you get from your fans?

“Indulge in an evening of erotic fear and morbid lusts. Taste the unholy wine as you sip from the sin of the Countess Bathoria, who flies to us from her lair in Montreal for a night of intoxicating sacrilege. Bathoria summons all Vampires to attend to her thirst for blood in a ritual seduction of the soul. Indulgences include Gothic music, delicate foods, a cash bar, live performances, and a cash prize for most provocative costume. Succumb to Bathoria’s dark embrace as you revel in the wonder working power in the blood!”

Salem’s Witch Elders Shawn Poirier and Christian Day discovered me one dead of night and found that I was simply perfect to blend into their cavalcade of autumn people. The Festival of the Dead celebrates death's macabre customs, heretical histories, and strange rituals, gathering experts on the spirit world to help Salem’s guests to confront their own mortality. My fans are ecstatic about this event! Regretfully, not all can attend but I will be sure to bless them from a distance.

9. Is there anyone out there in the genre that you are wanting to work with?

Without a doubt, I would love to work with Jose Mojica Marins.

10. What is your favorite Coffin Joe film and why?

Coffin Joe's 'This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse' is an absolute work of genius. It is full of macabre, bizarre weirdness, beautiful women and blasphemy.

When Coffin Joe enters hell the film jumps from a breathtaking black and white to ghastly color. This stylistic choice was something we almost executed during the edit of 'Sinners And Saints' and now as I think back realize that we made the right choice. Not only were we worried about distributors not wanting a black and white film but it also wouldn't have been as original an idea as we once thought.

Jose Mojica Marins is a remarkable and unique filmmaker who has shown that budget can never constrain a true mastermind. This film is and always will be an inspiration for a filmmaker such as myself.

11. You list Cradle of Filth as one of your favorite bands. What other black metal bands do you enjoy listening to?

I also enjoy listening to Therion, Tristania, Dimmu Borgir and Tvangeste. Miron and Naturelle of Tvangeste are currently creating some original music for ‘Sinners and Saints’. Stay tuned!!!!

12. Are there any more projects coming in the future that you can tell us about?

I am currently in pre production with my partner Jason Cavalier [Robomonkey Productions] with a project entitled ‘Countess Bathoria’s Graveyard Picture Show’. It will be a Zombie anthology ‘Creepshow’ style. I also just finished filming ‘Purple Glow’ with director of ‘The Night They Returned’ SV Bell of SVBI Films.

“Astronomers across the world are watching the sky as a meteor is reported on a collision course with our planet. When the rock gets to crash on Earth, some campers in the neighborhood decide to venture in the woods to find that relic from outer space before the authorities. Problems arise when one of the pretty ladies touches the alien rock and turn into a monster that feeds on sex and human flesh.”

Summer 2005 I will be shooting ‘Rise Of The Ghosts’ [working title] which will be another SVBI Production.

“A group of young scientists set out to investigate and experiment in an abandoned prison for women. The inmates who once stayed at the prison were condemned to death and their souls now trapped in the walls. The scientists attempt to bring one of the female ghosts back to from the dead and are successful… they soon realize that they may have made the biggest mistake of they’re soon to be short lived lives.”

The story is based on an idea by Zacary Park and written by Danny Pelletier.

This winter I will be shooting a ‘KillerBGirls’ production entitled ‘Tender Flesh For Zombie Goddess’. It will be Patrick Aird's [Co-director of ‘The Night They Returned’] directorial debut!

“When a group of friends decides to stop at Chief's Campground for the weekend, little do they know that for more than 60 years now, the Mother of all zombies, a by-product of WW2, has been roaming the face of the Earth on a tight leash. Nurtured, cared for, and kept in bondage by the reclusive Chief, Zombie Goddess, an 86 year old sexy zombie that feeds exclusively on female flesh, will break free this upcoming summer. Witness the sexiest female flesh eating extravaganza ever seen.
At last! Zombians* will roam the face of the Earth!”

*ZOM-BI-AN n. A reanimated female corpse whose flesh eating orientation is

I will also be working with Tony Watt on his film ‘Project X’ [working title] currently to be distributed by Mark Berry through Attack Filmworks. This film is about two ex-military street-hustlers from the hood vs. bisexual female vampyres that are taking over the world.

Last but not least I will be joining director Kevin Woodhouse on the set of his film ‘Random’ and director Christian Viel on his latest project ‘Dead Like Them’.
