Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) -- The Underground Horror Movie Network (www.UHMN.com)
today launched an online horror community that allows fans, filmmakers
and industry professionals to interact while discovering the very best
independent horror content available for download. Founders S. Keith
Miller (a.k.a. Gunslinger) and A.M. Choi developed UHMN as a networking
destination for aspiring horror writers, directors, actors and fans of
the genre. It's also a place for filmmakers to showcase their work and
charge appropriately for it, thereby bypassing traditional distribution
and expanding awareness. UHMN members can create personal profiles;
make friends and network with other horror enthusiasts, while
discovering and consuming hard-to-find independent horror films that
they can review with comments. Most of the films offered are not
available through any online subscription-based movie rental sites.
Membership is free and movie download pricing will vary by title. As a
bonus for new members, and to spotlight their technology, UHMN.com is
giving away a free download of the classic, out of print independent
film, "Alice Sweet Alice" for a limited time only through May 24, 2007.
"Our technology provides immediate distribution directly through
iTunes, iPods or appleTV so movies can be downloaded using the same
technology fans have relied on for years. Fans will be able to get
their favorite indie horror films instantly and securely and filmmakers
will be able to showcase their films to the right audience. It's one
more great way to bring movies to the fans, while giving filmmakers
recognition for their work," says Gunslinger.
Darrin Ramage, president of Brain Damage Films, one of the biggest
distributors of independent horror movies worldwide, says, "UHMN.com is
the next internet step for passionate horror fans and professionals,
combined with a killer, quality movie download site, now that's
progress for our industry."
Popular horror actress and producer Melissa Bacelar (www.melissabacelar.com)
is the "face" of UHMN welcoming members and helping new visitors
navigate the site. Bacelar will also host the site's first original
program called "The Scream" -- an interview style show that will
include conversations with filmmakers and feedback from fans at horror
events nationwide. Horror expert and freelance writer, Heidi
Martinuzzi, is UHMN's Editor-in-Chief and she will oversee all
editorial content and movie reviews. UHMN.com will provide in-depth
coverage of the low-budget and independent horror movie industry
through articles and contributions from industry experts and
filmmakers.
"We're not trying to compete with big-budget Hollywood horror news,
there's already so many sites out there that do it so well," said
Heidi. "We want UHMN to be a place where fans and filmmakers can come
together and enjoy a shared passion."
