Internet innovator Stephan Miller's
Gunslinger Media and infamous Hollywood writer-director-producer Nick
Palumbo's Fright Flix Productions today announced a partnership to
produce the highly controversial five million dollar horror film
"Corpse." Expected to receive an NC-17 for its intense content,
"Corpse" will be Palumbo's first new film since his 35mm thriller
'Murder-Set-Pieces' began shocking audiences three years ago. The newly
formed partnership's official website is www.corpsefilm.com. Los Angeles, CA, July 26, 2007 --(PR.com)--
Internet innovator Stephan Miller's Gunslinger Media and infamous
Hollywood writer-director-producer Nick Palumbo's Fright Flix
Productions today announced a partnership to produce the highly
controversial five million dollar horror film "Corpse." Expected to
receive an NC-17 for its intense content, "Corpse" will be Palumbo's
first new film since his 35mm thriller "Murder-Set-Pieces" began
shocking audiences three years ago. The maverick filmmaker describes
the new multi-million dollar project as "a personal vision of the
apocalypse. Just as 'Murder-Set-Pieces' took the slasher genre in new
directions, 'Corpse' redefines the zombie film."
Palumbo is
excited to have partnered with someone who shares both his vision and
his approach to business. "I am very proud of my new partnership with
Gunslinger Media. I have been looking for quite some time to find
someone with the same sensibilities and work ethic. Stephan is a bold
and visionary entrepreneur, and this is just the beginning of what I
believe will be a lifelong partnership. When I presented Stephan with
my ideas for 'Corpse,' he was very excited to be a part of what will
surely be a groundbreaking horror film."
Gunslinger Media
Founder and CEO Stephan Miller is equally pleased with the new
alliance, observing, "Nick Palumbo is an extremely talented writer and
director, and has a good business sense of the film industry, with an
extreme focus on the horror genre."
Miller is no stranger to the
film industry, having worked on such films as "The Island of Dr.
Moreau" and Kevin Costner's "The Postman" as an exotic animal trainer
before moving into independent production. "Corpse" has also attracted
the attention and talents of special effects technician Vincent
Guastini, whose resume includes Clint Eastwood’s Academy Award-winning
"Letters From Iwo Jima," Michael Mann's Oscar winner "The Last Of The
Mohicans," and Darren Aronofsky’s Academy Award-nominated "Requiem For
A Dream." New York Independent Film And Video Festival Award winner
Brendan Flynt, who provided the stylish and disturbing images found in
"Murder-Set-Pieces, will be returning to the Palumbo fold to serve as
the new project's director of photography.
For an industry
veteran like Gaustini, "Corpse" offers an opportunity to see his work
shine in an unfettered, creative environment, free from the "filmmaking
by committee" approach so often found in Hollywood. "I'm excited by the
opportunity to work so closely with Nick. He's allowing me to create
monsters with the same kind of freedom of expression Rob Bottin
experienced working with John Carpenter on 'The Thing.' With Nick, I
know my art will be seen in the film, and not on the cutting room
floor."
Since creating "Murder-Set-Pieces" over 3 years ago,
controversy has followed Palumbo's signature work everywhere. Due in no
small part to its status as being the only mainstream feature in
Hollywood history to be rejected by no less than three film labs, the
movie's visceral approach to terror has quickly become the stuff of
legend.
Through it all, Palumbo has remained committed to his
vision, and is happy to report that "Stephan is able to see and embrace
my vision as well. Simply put, I make the kinds of horror films that I
would pay to see: atmospheric and horrific, all shot on glorious 35mm
film. Stephen and I have the same goals in mind, and that is to
revolutionize the horror film industry."
As part of this new
partnership, Miller and Palumbo will document the making of "Corpse"
for all to see on the net using video, podcasts, stills and a daily
blog diary by the two exclusively on The Underground Horror Movie
Network (www.uhmn.com), an online horror community that features Miller
as co-founder and Palumbo as a newly appointed board member.
About
this cutting edge social networking site, Palumbo enthuses, "The
Underground Horror Movie Network proves just what a unique and
visionary person Stephan really is. This community will change the way
horror films are viewed by the public in the future. The 'Corpse'
diaries are going to be like nothing fans have been privy to in the
past. This will be a real treat for horror fans and budding filmmakers
alike."
In Miller's view, "fans want to know what happens from
pre-production to the final cut, and they do not want to wait for the
DVD to come out. We are reversing the process. You can watch what we go
through, and then see the movie."
The Corpse diaries will begin
September 1st, 2007, with filming scheduled to commence in early
December, 2007. The film is slated for a 2008 release.
"Corpse"
stems from an idea Palumbo had years ago, while driving across the
country on a three day road trip. "We are shooting the apocalypse on
35mm, on location in the desolate plains of an ice cold winter in the
heartland of America." Like all Palumbo films, "Corpse" will take the
viewer to a place they have never before seen.

It's cool.Kind of different for Toetag.Yet,not losing the core Toetag brutality. Two of My friends worked on it.I think it lets TTP's special effect talent really show.Although,I love August Underground.I like the hidden omage to AU thrown in Redsin. |

Muder-Set-Pieces takes the Horror Genre where no one has before.Call Me sick(and even wrong,as this is soley My opinion),but I love the fact that Children graphicly die in M-S-P.Who else has the balls to show it the way M-S-P did? Also(rape aside, rape has been done since the 70's and is old),Who else had the balls to make the Herion of the Movie an 11 Year old Girl? It's always a big breasted teenage Bimbo that You WANT to see die. This has an innocent eleven Year old girl(not to mention an awesome score by Zombie). Also,it might not be to gory, but the realistic aspect of the movie is awesome.M-S-P(in My opinion)is the best Horror Movie to come along in the last 25-30 Years.Honestly, name one Movie that has come along that is as disturbing and horrific as M-S-P...and good luck.If You say Saw or Hostel,be ashamed,be very ashamed. |

After spending over $63.00 to import an exported 80 minute "NUTBAG" dvd I finally had a chance to critique a 2nd Nick film and am happy to report that he appears to be quite the gifted film maker. In the grand guigniol style he thrills us and chills us and gets his projects green lighted and provides jobs and appears to be living his dream while we screw around on computers so God bless'em ! [ Hi model girl !) |

Egregious self promotion will only get you so far and then your content WILL be judged - inordinately so, given said promotion. Murder Set Pieces was a worthy watch, but please, 2 dimensional stilted acting, derivative cliched scripting , specious pretense in contriving a 'realistic tone' and an inability to bring the protaganist to life as a developed, invested lead character.
The use of that child actor grasping for her dead mother was worrying but valid and the only 'extreme' thing i found was the use of children in a confronting way, which was well done.
Sinister - im with Jeffrey - hardly. Try watching an August Underground production. Could you honestly say you were on edge , immersed in the morbid tone, gripped by 'what' could possibly happen next with either of Palumbos films ?
Having said that, Nick can improve and go one better - so credit where its due |

I'm not getting the over rated comment either. Being over rated means people love you and rave about you when it really isn't deserving . Nick Palumbo hardly has everyone raving about him, in fact he seems to be always overcoming the rumors and misconceptions about him.
His films may not be perfect and may go over the line a bit much BUT you've gotta give him some credit for making something different and taking it there. |

nick seems cool. but why is the ' nutbag dvd so inaccessible ? why make a movie if nobody can see it ?, and i would rather support the artist than the bottlegger > |

His movies are not very good and he can't tell a story at all. Murder-Set-Pieces is his only claim to fame and it's nowhere near as hardcore as everyone (especially Nick himself) praises it to be. I do like it but let's be honest. It's just a bunch of gore dumped on boobs. What more do we really need? I guess not much but it can hardly be called a masterpiece.
And Sinister? Seriously, come on. |
