Dead Body Man Written and Directed by Ryan Cavalline Starring: Eddie Benevich, Desiree, Peter Blessel, Syn Devil Year of Release: 2004
If God starts talking to you from your closet or through a porn actress that you’re watching on TV, then you have problems. Or when you drag a piece of meat on a leash through the neighborhood and say you’re walking you’re dog—yeah, problems.
Willie seems like a typical guy on the outside (aside from the demented details mentioned above), just walking around in his striped shirt and selling human meat to a local ungrateful meat dealer. He’s actually a very confused killer trying to balance out all the voices in his head who are telling him what to do. Like I said before, there’s God, in his closet and on the television, there’s a lovely blonde girl with pigtails wearing pink who tells him to stop the madness, and, of course, there are others. I mean, Willie is a proper schizophrenic killer with a variety of voices in his head.
Dead Body Man, written and directed by Ryan Cavalline, starts off when Willie is feigning retardation to pick up an old prostitute (quite genius, really). He leads her to his house and tells her he needs to get money out of his piggy bank for the transaction. But Willie has murder on his mind. Since he’s trying to rid the world of scummy people such as hookers, instead of getting money out of said piggy bank, he ends up dragging the hooker to his basement where he butchers his victims. Honestly, the grossest thing about this scene was the nudity of the older hooker. And, yeah, the scene included Willie cutting her face off and dancing around with it. Disgusting? Of course, but not as disgusting as the breasts. After cutting her face off, he ends up cutting the woman into pieces and packing her into a cooler.
Willie kills others in the film including a pizza boy. But throughout the entire film he fights with himself and God about his murdering ways. God insists that he kill, yet he doesn’t know if he wants to do it anymore. To try to break free from murdering, he attends a local serial killer support group. The group is headed by a twitching psycho who is more frightening than the members themselves. When the group doesn’t help Willie, he tries a job instead. Where does he start working? The suicide hotline, of course! And what does he do? I’m not even going to tell you. I think you can figure it out.
This film was obviously shot on a miniscule budget. Most of the footage was shot in the same house, with a few additional locations, so no money needed there. And there wasn’t even as much blood as you would think for a film you would think to be a gore fest. I mean, the film is called Dead Body Man, right? I would have liked some more dead bodies and perhaps some pools or waterfalls of blood.
Back to the pizza boy – I think this was my favorite scene of the entire film. Willie has the pizza boy tied up downstairs and he tells him about fucking with a chainsaw. Now if only they could have showed something like that…
There are a lot of revelations in this film, for the audience and for Willie. We learn that Willie’s father also had the same issues with murder, and we also learn that his brother has something to do with it. Any Basketcase fans out there? Cavalline is obviously a fan as well.
If you’re in for some low budget fun with some low budget tits and an obvious homage to Basketcase, check this film out.
